The Skillful Mom
A DBT skills group for moms who want to learn practical tools to respond to motherhood with compassion and intention

A DBT skills group for moms who want to live more intentionally
Motherhood is emotional.
It stretches your patience, your nervous system, and often your sense of self.
The Skillful Mom is a structured, psychoeducational group rooted in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — an evidence-based approach originally developed to help people manage intense emotions and build more effective coping skills.
Today, DBT is widely used to strengthen emotional regulation, communication, and distress tolerance — skills that are especially valuable in the daily realities of parenting.
This group is designed to help you build those skills in a practical, supportive environment.
Not to become a perfect mom.
But to become a more skillful one.
What to Expect
Each session includes structured teaching, guided practice, and real-life application using core DBT skills:
Mindfulness – staying present instead of operating on autopilot
Emotion Regulation – understanding and managing emotional intensity
Distress Tolerance – getting through hard moments without escalating them
Interpersonal Effectiveness – setting boundaries and communicating clearly
You will leave each session with concrete tools you can immediately apply at home.
Who is this for?
This group is a good fit for you if you:
Feel overstimulated or emotionally reactive
Struggle with guilt, impatience, or self-criticism
Want practical tools — not just validation
Desire to model emotional regulation for your children
Value personal growth but appreciate structure
The Skillful Mom is a psychoeducational DBT skills group and does not constitute psychotherapy. Participation does not establish a therapist-client relationship. This group is not a substitute for individual mental health treatment.
